I was a little dissatisfied with my Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens that was bundled with Julia. This resulted to me wanting a second lens with affordability as my primary consideration. So I surfed the net to find the cheapest lens I can buy and decided to spend my bucks on a prime - a Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens.
I was first encouraged to buy a 50mm after reading a discussion thread at Flickr with posters sharing the lenses they owned. I noticed that most of them have this prime lens in their possession. $115 may be cheap compared to other Nikkor lenses but I still wanted to know what this lens is capable of doing. I was finally 100% convinced to buy one after reading Gary Voth’s The Forgotten Lens article. So far, I’m loving it! ![]()
